We are looking for girls aged 11 to 17 to
play Rugby
Here at the OAs the women’s club section has always been very strong,
attested to by their countless successes. However, in order to maintain
such a powerful side it is necessary to have up and coming players to
supplement or replace team members. Having an organised, enthusiastic
junior female section is paramount to any contemporary club. Girls’
rugby is one of the biggest growing sports in England at this time but
uncharacteristically, the OAs have been somewhat behind the times
concerning this matter; many Hertfordshire clubs now have thriving
under 14 and under 17 teams competing on a regular basis. As there has
not up to now been a local avenue for girls interested in the sport,
many have been lost to out of town clubs.
All that is about to change; this season we intend to encourage local
girls of all ages to take up this enjoyable sport. Regular training
will be tough but fun; first team women will be on hand to coach and
advise the youngsters; open days will be planned to show more girls the
joys of playing the challenging yet satisfying team game of Rugby
Union. Every one is welcome between the ages of 11 and 17, regardless
of size or ability. If you are interested, or know someone else who
would be, please contact Morwenna on 07971 534643 or e-mail
morwennarugby@yahoo.co.uk for more information
